If you want to be able to enjoy your swimming pool longer than just the hot summer months, then we recommend looking into pool heaters. There are three main types of pool heaters: electric, gas, and solar. The best way to select the pool heater for you is to know the pros and cons of all three types of pool heaters.
- Electric Pool Heaters: An electric heater is the most common way to heat a pool. Electric heaters do not produce emissions like a gas heater will and they are less expensive to run than a gas heater. The downside of an electric pool heater is that you will see a rise in your utility bill.
- Gas Pool Heaters: A gas pool heater is powered by either natural gas or propane. This type of heater can warm your pool relatively quickly and can be used year around. You will see in an increase in your utility bill when you heat your pool with a gas pool heater. It isn’t the most efficient way to heat your pool so it can only be used in bursts.
- Solar Pool Heaters: Your pool heater will use the sun’s radiant energy to heat your pool. There are no emissions when heated this way. You will not see an increase in your utility bills and this type of heater can last up to 20 years. The downside of a solar pool heater is the upfront cost.
