There are many wonderful benefits of owning a hot tub. Hot tubs are great places to unwind and relax. They are fun for the whole family, too. But with owning a hot tub there comes some maintenance that is very important to keep it functioning properly. Our hot tub maintenance tips are:
- Cleaning – We recommend that you decide on a simple hot tub cleaning schedule and stick to it. We recommend wiping the hot tub shell down with a rag and a little vinegar once a week to keep scum at bay. If your hot tub is outside, then you will want to clean out all debris like leaves, sticks, and dirt.
- Circulation – Maintaining good hot tub circulation is important. All the water will pass through the hot tub’s filters when it is circulating. This will help to keep the water clean from contaminants. Many hot tubs have circulation timers that you can set. You should have your hot tub set to circulate twice a day for 15-20 minutes. If your hot tub does not have a timer, then you will need to turn it on to circulate the water twice a day.
- Filters – Your hot tub’s filters have an important job to do and need to be cleaned so that they can do their job properly. There are several ways to clean your hot tub filters. You can rinse them with a garden hose, spray them with a hot tub filter cleaner for a deeper clean, or soak your filters in a chemical cleaner when you drain your hot tub. Soaking your filters should be done in addition to weekly rinsing or spraying with a chemical.
